Yo (Johannes) Zwart
Co-owner Johannes Zwart, or Yo as he’s usually known, has nearly 30 years of experience as a guide: canoeing, dog-sledding, rafting and many other skills, make him a well-rounded Team Leader. Yo also has a Kinesiology degree from Western, and a diploma from the prestigious adventure tourism program at University College of the Caribou (now Thompson Rivers University). He trains and certifies most of our guides.
Gina Goldie
Gina has almost 30 years as an entrepreneur. The resulting strong business skills complement her professional career as a graphic designer, content developer and marketing wizard. More than that, when Gina is not on the phone helping you with your trip, or managing the office, she may be taking a group down the river as an intermediate level guide.
Freeman Wasdal
Freeman started rafting when he was 5... because his Mom started a rafting company! He's been working for Wild Blue Yonder ever since (well, maybe since he was 10). A river guide since 2010, Freeman has trained and worked on the Ottawa River, the Colorado River (yes, in the Grand Canyon!), the Rio Pacure in Costa Rica, the Tully River in Australia, and on rivers in Patagonia and Morocco! During the winter months, Freeman can often be found trotting around the globe.
Fabian
Returning for his 3rd summer, Fabian is from Chile, and is our Trip Leader and River Supervisor in Grande Cache. Fabian will be upping his game this and training on our Class 4 river, Sheep Creek.
Cory Beisel
Cory has been river guide with Wild Blue Yonder since 2003. One day a young guy in a toque, fresh from the College of the Rockies, walked up to us at a trade show and asked for a job. Cory has long been a member of the Wild Blue Yonder family, and has also guided canoe trips, rock climbing, caving and canyoneering. As lovable as he is talented, Cory truly has a passion for running rivers and showing people a great time!
Samuel L Jackson
Originally from Canada, Samuel has guiding experience from Quebec, Australia and Nepal, Samuel will be getting his training on Sheep Creek, and getting his Canadian certification and oar-endorsement, and will work as a Trip Leader in Grande Cache first, then in Revelstoke.
Keria
From New Zealand, Keria worked there for 3 years as a class 3+ river guide. She is also an advanced medic! Keria will also be training on Sheep Creek, and getting her Canadian oar-endorsement certification. She will work as a Trip Leader in Grande Cache first, then in Revelstoke.
Pat
An Australian, Pat has an Outdoor Education degree, and has guided canoes and sea kayaks. This will be his first foray into raft guiding! Pat will be training as a class 3+ Raft Guide and working in Grande Cache first, then in Revelstoke.
Andrea
From Mexico, Andrea has just finished her degree in Finance at Boise State University. As a leader of the University's Outdoor Program, Andrea will be training as a Junior Guide in Grande Cache, and working as a shuttle driver and doing float trips in Revelstoke.
Clarissa
With several years as a Cadet Officer, and having done some long canoe trips, Clarissa is a Canadian and will be training as a Junior Guide in Grande Cache.
Katy
A UK citizen, Katy has a wealth of experience in guest services, as well as a degree in Radio & Television. Katy will work the office in Revelstoke as our Social Media/ Photo Editor, and work on revising our Revelstoke video.
Captain Shivers
David is originally from Scotland but is now a resident in Canada. He will be bringing his experience as a professional actor, writer and yachtsman to be our Pirate Captain in Revelstoke where he will be on the look out for pirate apprentices both young and old.
Jess
Jess is a lover of the outdoors, horses, and rivers in sunshine or in snow. She pursued these interests at university where she studied outdoor and environmental education before working in customer service and guiding roles in nature tourism. With additional experience in admin Jess, will also be working with us in Revelstoke as Office Supervisor.
